Ms. Samantha Gray, Park Ranger, US Army Corps of Engineers, Cape Cod Canal Field Office is the guest speaker at our 10:00a.m. meeting on Wednesday November 1^st in the Meeting Room of the Library.  Her presentation is “Wildflowers along the Cape Cod Canal” and will begin around 10:30a.m.  Refreshments will be served.

The Garden Group will be going to cut Christmas greens for our arrangements and decorations. We will meet at the Mattapoisett Post Office at 10am.

Please check your yards and secret stashes for berries, greens and pinecones to bring on December 1st at 12 noon at the Library front steps.

The Garden Group will be decorating the 2 planters at the library, and the window boxes at the Post Office.
We will not be doing Town Hall this year.

The Garden Group will meet from 10:00-12:00 in the Library Conference Room.  In addition to our meeting, we will watch the movie, “The Seed”.  All Woman’s Club members are invited to attend.

Our March meeting will NOT be held at the library on Wednesday, March 7.  Instead, we are traveling to the Lyman Estate in Waltham, MA on Thursday, March 8th.  Meet at the Park ’N Ride at 9:30 AM.  Karen and Sandy would appreciate knowing how many are going and who is willing to drive so please contact them if you are planning to attend.  We will be going out to lunch in Waltham after our tours of the house and the greenhouses that host a lovely Camellia collection in bloom at this time of year.

At the February meeting we will be making hand tied bouquets of flowers. Everyone that attends will make a bouquet to take home.

Please let the Garden Group leaders, Sandy Hering or Karen Gardner, that you are going to be there, as we need to purchase flowers for those present.

Our April meeting will be in the Library on Wednesday, April 4th at 11 AM-1:00 PM.  Please note the time change.  Chef Colby Rottler will be preparing delicious healthy snacks for our meeting, thus the later start time.  It will be helpful to have an idea of how many will be attending, so please RSVP regrets only to Karen or Sandy.

Potluck Salad Luncheon.  Please bring any blossoms from your gardens and your flower arranging tools to make May Day baskets to distribute to our friends and neighbors who don’t get out.   The club provides the baskets.  Your festive floral hat is a welcome touch, if you wish.  Guests are welcome!

The Mattapoisett Woman’s Club announces their 2018 biennial garden tour “Nature’s Treasures.” On Saturday, June 30 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, rain or shine, nine beautiful distinctive village, town, and seaside gardens will be showcased. Some are secluded or hidden at first glance, while others are home-styled landscaped, and picturesque others are surrounded by the sea. There are outdoor structures like gazebos, arbors and even a wood-burning sauna! You will see annuals, meadows, rock gardens, perennials and patio blossoms that will transport you with fragrant features to magical and stunning environments of nature.

The Garden Tour is the major way the MWC raises money for the Scholarship Fund and other charitable contributions.

Advanced tickets are $15 and will be sold at the following local shops beginning May 25, 2018: Periwinkles and Gotta Have It in Fairhaven; Isabelle’s, Pen and Pendulum, and Town Wharf General Store in Mattapoisett; and Serendipity by the Sea and The Bookstall in Marion.

The day of the tour tickets will be sold only at Ying Dynasty Restaurant, 24 County Road, Mattapoisett, MA 02739 for $20 each. The maps for the self guided tour for all ticket holders will also be available at this location.
