Tick Talk @ Mattapoisett Free Public Library
Nov 4 @ 10:30 am – 11:30 am

TICK RADAR

Did you know ticks detect their hosts by CO2 emissions, ammonia, body heat, lactic acid and vibrations in the ground?

Are ticks insects?
Find out the answer to these and other questions about ticks at our tick talk.

The Mattapoisett Land Trust and the Mattapoisett Woman’s Club are co-sponsoring a talk about ticks in the South Coast on Saturday, November 4th at 10:30 a.m. in the Mattapoisett Free Public Library, 7 Barstow Street, in the lower level meeting room.  Entomologist Blake Dinius, who was recently hired by Plymouth County, will discuss the facts on ticks, the diseases they carry and proven methods of protection.

2nd Annual Bells of Remembrance in the Southcoast
Nov 11 @ 11:00 am – 11:01 am
2nd Annual Bells of Remembrance in the Southcoast

Help Needed:

The Bells of Remembrance Committee met on August 22nd and will start organizing for this special event in September. Volunteers who have already signed up will be receiving list of numbers of local churches and  businesses for to call to confirm participation. When we reach 50 commitments we will have the opportunity for a radio interview on WBZ Radio’s Night Side with Dan Rae. This would be a great  opportunity to promote our initiative.

Informational materials will be available at the September meeting for all wanting to help. A meeting will be planned to go over how to proceed with calls. This is a MWC project and if it is to be successful we need involvement and ideas from all our members. Many hands make light work.

If you have any questions or would like to volunteer please contact Mary O’Keefe at fudgieok@gmail.com or 508-758-2801.
