Friday, May 8 at 1:30: Riverside Cem
etery, 274 Main St., Fairhaven. Free parking is available once you enter the cemetery just past the gates. This is a beautiful paved walk when spring shrubs and trees are flowering.
Friday, May 15 at 1:30: West Island Beach, 2 Fir St., Fairhaven
This is a sandy beach walk with beautiful views of Buzzards Bay. Free parking is available at the West Island Town Beach parking lot until mid June.
Friday, May 22 at 10:00 am: Heritage Museum and Gardens, 67 Grove St., Sandwich, MA
Note time change! This is Community Day at Heritage Gardens and is free for seniors age 65+. The Rhododendrons should be in bloom at this time and the gardens and grounds are lovely. You may want to make a day of it and have lunch in the area. Some suggestions are Fisherman’s View, Sagamore Inn, or Dunbar’s Tea House. Also, sandwiches are offered at a small on-site cafe.
Friday, May 29, at 1:30: Nasketucket State Park, 94 Brandt Island Road, Mattapoisett
This is a woodsy walk with several trails leading to either Buzzards Bay or scenic woodlands & meadows. Free parking is available in the lot.
Friday, June 5, at 1:30: Hurricane Barrier, New Bedford
This is a unique paved walk several feet above the New Bedford Harbor with beautiful views of Buzzards Bay. There is a small free parking lot just before Cisco’s Restaurant on East Rodney French Blvd. You may want to carpool.
Friday, June 12 at 1:30: The Bogs, 141 Acushnet Rd., Mattapoisett
This is a grassy walk along the bogs. There are also a few woodsy trails to explore. Free parking is available at the Bogs.
